Compositing

Some images need more than just a touch-up, they need a creative rebuild. Whether it's removing distracting elements, swapping in a better expression from a different shot, or piecing together multiple images to create something entirely new, these projects require a mix of technical precision and visual problem-solving. This is where the tools of retouching meet the art of digital compositing.

Compositional Adjustments for Product Presentation

This image of Waterford Glass was carefully reworked to improve visual balance and product visibility. The butter dish was repositioned from the right side of the frame to the left, and the glass rose was brought forward to make it more prominent, all while keeping the bowl and two vases in their original placements. These subtle adjustments help guide the viewer’s eye and create a more effective and visually appealing presentation.

Product Composite for Pre-Launch Listing

To support the launch of a new watch design, I was tasked with creating a product image for the shopping site before the actual item was available to photograph. The watch was at a remote studio for an on-air premiere, and we needed a high-quality image to feature online during the event. Using four reference images — one showing the band style, another the face design, a third for the correct colors, and a rendering to indicate color placement — I combined, retouched, and recolored the elements into a single composite. The result is the image shown at the top. Once the watch was available for photography, it was later replaced with the studio-shot version shown below.
