Color Work
Color has the power to transform an image, whether you're restoring the past or refining the present. I offer everything from precise color correction and tone balancing to creative adjustments like changing clothing colors or matching brand palettes. I also specialize in colorizing black-and-white photos, bringing old memories to life with rich, natural-looking tones. Every project is handled with care to ensure the final image looks just right.
Hand-Colorized Historical Photograph
When I first wanted to learn how to colorize black-and-white images, I turned to the Library of Congress’s online collection of public domain photographs. This particular image, titled “Typical rooming house, Washington, D.C.”, was taken in 1935 by photogarpher Carl Mydans for the New Deal’s Resettlement Administration.
I colorized the photo entirely by hand using a variety of Photoshop techniques — carefully layering color, adjusting tones, and refining details to preserve the texture and character of the original. No AI tools were used in the process — just patience, practice, and a love for historical images.
Color Matching and Package Compositing for E-Commerce
5-hour ENERGY® offers over a dozen flavors, each with its own signature color. To create consistent product images for their website, we photographed all 12- and 24-pack boxes on a neutral grey background. I then digitally applied the correct background color for each flavor to match the brand's established color palette. In some cases, only one package was available, so I composited images to create accurate representations, replacing the top box in the 24-pack with the correct flavor where needed.
The result is a cohesive, brand-consistent set of images ready for e-commerce use. The range of colors needed can be seen below.
Color Adjustment for Product Availability
After photographing this Paula Deen air fryer for a homepage feature, we learned that the color shown was out of stock. Since the replacement color was in the warehouse but not available for reshooting, I digitally changed the product’s color to match the in-stock version. This allowed the image to be used as planned without delaying the promotion or requiring a reshoot.
